According to Dayton Business Journal, foreign businesses and investors spent $2.1 billion to acquire, establish, or expand in Ohio in 2014. Attracting investment by non-U.S. companies is important to economic development officials because those projects tend to be longer-term.

House Bill 233, which passed last month, set procedures for cities and villages to establish re-development districts for rehabilitating historic building and promoting economic development.
USDA Announces $91M Loan into Ohio Health Care Facility
To enhance Rural Health and Public Safety, the USDA has announced investments in rural community facilities that include a $91 million loan to convert a vacant Ohio department store into a health care facility.
Historic Religious Campus Reborn as an Urban Business Complex
According to Fresh Water Cleveland, the financial package for a $5.2 million church complex redevelopment included state and federal historic tax credits, two municipal grants, owner equity, a Small Business Administrative loan, and a $2.25 million bank loan.
Galion Council Passes TIF District; Could Lead to Hotel
The Galion City Council passed legislation which sets a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district that will bring a 70-bed hotel project on now-vacant property. According to the Galion Inquirer, the project will cost about $5.5 million.
