Kresge Invests $5M in Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority
The Kresge Foundation is loaning $5 million to the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority to operate the loan fund, aiming to lower the barrier for local entrepreneurs. This investment is the culmination of a year long negotiation between Kresge and the Port of Cincinnati; a relationship brokered by CDFA.
ODSA Funding Available to Help Reduce Energy Costs, Improve Energy Efficiency
The Energy Loan Fund is now accepting applications. The fund helps small businesses, manufacturers, nonprofits, and local governments implement energy efficiency improvements to lower energy use and costs.
Fiat Chrysler to Invest $1B in US Plants
The automaker said the investment would create more than 2,000 production-related jobs, but the production plans in Ohio and Michigan are "subject to the negotiation and final approval of incentives by state and local entities."
Landfills as Solar Farms? Cuyahoga County is Identifying Sites
The county already has a project in the works. It plans to use a developer to erect a solar farm on an as-yet-to-be-chosen site. The project is part of a 10-year, power purchase agreement with Cleveland Public Power that calls for the county to buy locally generated wind and solar energy.
Sandusky is Going After Companies Who Have Defaulted on Loans
The City has already struck a deal with Admiral's Daughter for $3,400. Sandusky officials will continue to examine companies with outstanding debt on an individual basis in order to determine how much each company should pay back to the City.
New Property Tax Exemption Available in OH
On December 8, 2016, the Ohio General Assembly approved Substitute Senate Bill 235 (SB 235), which, among other things, creates an exemption from property taxation for commercial or industrial "newly developable property" or "redevelopment property."
Kasich Veto's Bill That would Limit Clean Energy Standards
The Environmental Defense Fund said the veto will allow Ohio to become a leader in the clean energy economy, "clearing the way for well-paying jobs, millions in investment, and healthier air for all."
ODSA Announces Nearly $23M in Historic Tax Credits
Ohio has announced awards of nearly $23 million in tax credits to help rehabilitate 33 historic buildings, though another special state tax-credit program for huge preservation projects may be on the chopping block.
OH Provides $14M to Clean Up Site for Cracker Plant
JobsOhio has provided $14 million via a revitalization loan to help clean up a former power plant site in Belmont County for possible use as an ethane cracker plant.
