Metro Phoenix Needs More Affordable Housing
Tax credits and other federal government programs have helped to spur construction of several affordable rental projects in Phoenix. According to AZ Central, advocates for Arizona housing are hoping to replenish the State Housing Trust Fund to help finance more low-income housing.
Regs Hurt Tech Companies' Quest for Venture Capital
According to Phoenix Business Journal, Arizona is one of only five states that does not put the Dodd-Frank small fund exemptions into effect. This is causing Arizona-based venture capitalists to take their money to California.
AZ Senate Gives Approval to WIFA Legislation
The Arizona Senate approved a bill prohibiting the state's Water Infrastructure Finance Authority from charging interest payments past the date of borrowers paying off the loan, according to the Havasu News.
Payson, AZ Secures Pipeline and Future
The City of Payson locked in a $34 million loan from the Water Infrastructure Authority of Arizona (WIFA). According to Payson Roundup, the project will help provide the infrastructure that will enable the region to prosper.
The IRS Expected to Challenge Bonds of AZ Issuer
According to The Bond Buyer, the IRS is expected to challenge the Scottsdale Municipal Property Corporation's allocation of bonds to refinance a lease agreement for a luxury shopping mall garage.
AZ Loop 202 Receives Approval
A $1.9 billion extension plan for Loop 202 in metropolitan Phoenix has been approved by the Federal Highway Administration. This will be the first major P3 venture for the state.
