YWCA Creates $1M Loan Fund for Minority Women Entrepreneurs
The YWCA of Southern Arizona launched the fund to facilitate lending to women and minority entrepreneurs whose businesses support regional economic development. The YWCA chapter's Second Century Campaign also includes a $500,000 training and advocacy center for disadvantaged women.
Angel Investor Tax Credit Passes AZ Senate
House Bill 2191, which would add $10 million in new tax-credit funding authority, was sent to the House, where the majority caucus recommended passage. The original bill passed the Senate but stalled in the lower chamber.
AZ Lawmakers Considering Tax Credits for Large and Small Businesses
There are at least four measures being pushed by Republicans who champion the tax incentives as a way to spur new business growth. It's unclear which of the bills will make it to the finish line, and time is short.

Greater Yuma EDC Attracts $27.5M Almark Foods Investment
Yuma, Arizona, which Almark called their western "flagship location," will be home to a new 120,000 square-foot building on a 17-acre property Almark purchased from the city in December for about $1.46 million. About 200 total construction jobs will have been created throughout the whole project.
Glendale Nearing Financial Stability
Glendale is unique in that it spends a significant chunk of its operating budget to pay debts on sports facilities and other capital projects. The city projects that 12.1 percent of its general-fund revenue will go toward these bonds, breaking a policy demanding these types of debts not exceed 10 percent.
House Bill 2094 Supports Small Water Systems
Sponsored by Representative Russell Bowers, R-25, HB 2094 makes the small water systems fund available to assist many of the 60 small water systems currently delivering water with contaminant levels exceeding federal safe drinking water standards.
