Program Overview

The CDFA Brownfields Technical Assistance Program is funded by a grant from the U.S. EPA to provide assistance to communities throughout the country that are looking to finance the redevelopment of brownfield sites. CDFA will provide education, resources, research and networking on revolving loan funds, tax incentives, tax increment finance and other tools available for redevelopment finance. >>> Program Fact Sheet

Brownfields Finance Update

The CDFA Brownfields Finance Update is a monthly newsletter provides the latest headlines, reports, case studies and other resources related to brownfields and redevelopment finance. Subscribe today for the CDFA Brownfields Finance Update.

Brownfields Financing Resource Center

The CDFA Brownfields Financing Resource Center is a customized hub and search interface for CDFA's Online Resource Database and programming. This page is designed to facilitate access to events, reports, case studies, presentations and best practices related to brownfields and redevelopment finance.

Brownfields Financing Toolkit

The CDFA Brownfields Financing Toolkit provides communities with an easy-to-use, best practices resource on brownfields redevelopment. The toolkit approach to development finance brings together the best of these financing concepts and techniques to provide a comprehensive response to capital and resource needs. This guide is intended to provide information to communities interested in identifying potential financing tools for the remediation and redevelopment of contaminated brownfield sites.

Brownfields Financing Webinar Series

The CDFA Brownfields Financing Webinar Series is an annual, three-part educational offering of the program. CDFA, EPA, technical partners, and stakeholders work together to identify topics, including best practices, new trends, regulatory concerns, and innovative projects.

Brownfields Project Marketplace

The CDFA Brownfields Project Marketplace provides communities the opportunity to receive special assistance with brownfields redevelopment projects. Communities will detail important information on a site and engage in open discussion with financial and brownfields experts. The purpose of these discussions is to provide initial suggestions for the communities' redevelopment plans and financing sources. CDFA will provide two in-person and two virtual marketplaces each year.

Brownfields Project Response Teams

For communities that participate in the Brownfields Project Marketplace and want additional assistance for their brownfields efforts, the CDFA Brownfields Project Response Teams will conduct site visits providing one-on-one recommendations from a combination of CDFA staff and technical assistance partners. These visits will offer communities specific, actionable advice that can transform brownfields into usable sites. CDFA will coordinate 36 Brownfields Project Response Teams over the life of the program.

In order to be eligible for a CDFA Brownfields Project Response Team, communities must participate in a CDFA Brownfields Project Marketplace and be selected through an application submission process.



Project Response Team RFP

Technical Assistance Providers selected through this RFP will have a unique opportunity to showcase their redevelopment finance expertise for specific communities, as well as brownfields stakeholders nationwide. Responses to this Request for Proposals will be used to establish a list of vendors eligible to participate as members of CDFA’s Brownfields Project Response Teams.
